A few pictures of boys
We have friends around this evening, it being New Years Eve
and the associated children are boys, sitting in our living room idly sketching
something I noticed they don’t seem to move as much as the girls.
Oddly enough they mostly seem to move when
adults make them, very handy for sketching.

Drawing with Black Chalk
I have just received some black chalk leads for my largest propelling pencil
it was Vincent Van Gogh that got me onto this one, quite a few of his drawings are done with black chalk and watercolour and I wondered why, modern stuff on art is a bit arty about black chalk driveling on about the texture.
I have been playing with it for about an hour, and. Hot Diggery Dog yes it's soft and smudgy like a very soft pencil, but. and it's a big but, it doesn't smudge at all when you paint watercolour on it.
slap it on
slosh it on
dab it on
made in The Czech Republic and very thick.
nothing like the chalks I usually use, nothing like so messy.

I buy the mother of all propelling pencils and have an artistic discussion about chalk.
Children are playing Monopoly
The sketch a matter of a couple of mins is chalk, apparently artists don’t use chalk but pastels which I can’t get on with.
I have bought the thickest available propelling pencil, at the top, other pencils for comparison.

I am learning to use this for shading pencil sketches.
